8 Reasons Smiling is Good for You

Someone once said, “Smile – It’s the second best thing you can do with your lips.” (Kissing being the first, of course.) And it’s true. With one simple movement, you can change your day, someone’s life, and even the way your body functions. Don’t keep your smiles to yourself. There are many delightful things to be attained from one little smile.

1. Instant beauty – even without makeup

8 Reasons Smiling is Good for You …
When you smile, the muscles you use to perform the action lift the face. This makes you look younger and more attractive. In addition to that, smiling gives you a positive air that is appealing to people.

2. Elevates your mood

No matter how sad you feel, smiling will often times make you feel better. This happens because when you smile, your body releases endorphins, other natural pain killers, and serotonin.

3. Keeps you positive

Keeps you positive
It is hard for you to be sad when everyone around you is happy and smiling. Add to this the natural high you get when you smile. How can you not have a positive attitude with all the happiness flowing through your mind and body?

4. Stress reliever

The happy hormones and pain killers released when you smile help relax your body and mind. So the next time you feel anxious and stressed, just stop what you’re doing, take a few deep breaths, and smile.

5. Easy way to health

Your immune system functions better when your body is calm and relaxed. Smiling can help prevent heart disease by lowering blood pressure. Your digestion and blood sugar levels may also benefit from smiling. And I don’t know if you’ve noticed this, but smiling can help make workouts more fun and bearable.

6. Aura of success

Aura of success
The positivity and happiness that you get from smiling contributes to the way people view you. If you smile, you appear more confident and successful to other people.

7. Makes you approachable

People are more drawn to you if you are smiling and happy, rather than when you are sad and frowning. You will look more approachable and friendly. You will have a higher chance of landing projects, getting a job, and making new friends.

8. Good kind of contagious

A smile is one of the things that I wouldn’t mind catching from someone else. And it’s a good thing that smiling is contagious. Did you notice that seeing a happy scene on TV, a successful friend, or a smiling person/group also makes you smile?

Life is too short for frowns and negativity. When you find yourself feeling down, find ways to make yourself smile. There are so many reasons and ways in this life to turn that frown upside down. Embrace the habit of smiling and feel the changes in your everyday life. Now, think about it: when was the last time you smiled?

"Too early" for Volvo flagship by Stefan Jacoby

"Too early" for Volvo flagship by Stefan Jacoby
Volvo CEO, Stefan Jacoby, has responded to Geely’s CEO, Li Shufu for wanting a large executive sedan in the Volvo line-up, saying it is “too early” for Volvo to be designing a BMW 7 Series and Mercedes S-Class rival.

Shufu obtained Volvo from Ford earlier this year. Shufu would like to see Volvo create more “high-level cars that compete with the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series”.
Jacoby said such a car “is a step too early” and could only be considered once “we have reached our goal of 800,000 sales”.
Shufu thinks Volvo has the technology and research capabilities to contend at the top end of the market as well as demand higher retail prices. Shufu has made it obvious that a push into the booming Chinese car market would demand luxury that Chinese customers could “see through their eyes and touch with their hands”.

Stop Saying I Don't Know

Do you hear yourself saying "I don't know" to the point where you feel like people think you're a dull, blank slate? Many times, people fall into this habit out of laziness or apathy. How do you overcome the habit now that you are feeling more vivacious and engaged? This article will provide you with some inspiration!

Steps
1. How often do you say it? Keep a journal or log of how often you use this phrase. It doesn't have to be elaborate--just somehow mark every time. The back on a notebook, in a notepad, or whatever works for you. #*The idea is not to somehow feel terrible about yourself; by knowing how often you do this behavior, you can both become more aware of your words as well as track your successful progress over time. #*Remember: focus on awareness of this habit...you do not have to punish yourself in order to break this pattern.

2. Resolve to find a replacement phrase for now. Tell yourself that you will not say "I don't know" - unless you have listened carefully and really do not know. Instead, try saying something - anything - else. It might be helpful to come up with several different words to say instead, to avoid slipping into making any of the replacement words becoming a habit as well. Some examples include: "Hmmm." Or, "Not sure." Or, "Maybe". Or, "What do you think?" Or, "I would like to hear you in order to think a little more". In the latter case, asking a question back to the person can cause them to think a little more about what they've said, buying you some thinking time too!

3. Recognize that it is perceived as lazy because it is lazy. The person you're talking to will know instantly that you simply don't want to think about what they've said, or that you're not even interested in talking to them. Once you say "I dunno," you've killed the conversation. Where does the other person go with that? Does s/he explain whatever it is that "you dunno"? You would find it rude, probably. Just as rude as shutting down the conversation with "I dunno."

4. Listen actively. Instead of thinking about other things, staring off into space, or figuring out what you want to talk about next, try really listening to your conversation partner. Ask a question or two about what s/he's saying - anything is good. Try, "Is that right?" when you notice that the other person seems to be waiting for you to say something. In addition, consider asking questions that help you learn. For instance:
  • "So what do you think about the plot of the movie?" "I'm not sure I understand why X chose to do Y. Did you catch that?"
  • "What do you know about that cutie in Calculus?" "Not much..didn't he say he was from Nebraska?"
  • "Why was Tamara so upset last night?" "Did you ask her? She ran right by me!"
  • "Edward, what did you get for question 3?" "I had trouble, Miss Sausan. I had trouble understanding what Hamlet meant here..." (You show that you've thought about the work, and your teacher will likely not give you a hard time. Listen close to the sigh of relief from other students around you!
http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/2727787/2/istockphoto_2727787-i-don-t-know.jpg
5. Think about what you're being asked. If you don't have an answer immediately, rather than saying "I don't know," instead, just pause. Think. If you're really flummoxed, beg your conversation partner's pardon by saying something like, "You know what - I don't think I ever really thought about it until now." At least this lets your partner know you heard him or her, and that you are actively thinking about the question rather than just automatically popping out with "I dunno."
    6. Recant it if it comes out. "Recant" means "take it back". And don't get flustered over it. If you blurt out the unthinking "I dunno," just immediately say, "Wait... I think... Let me think about that for a second." Just take it back. Your conversation partner will be very generous about it, especially if s/he thinks you want to consider whatever it is that s/he was saying. Nothing is better in a conversation than making the other person feel as if you think whatever they're talking about is very important and worth thinking over.

    7. Accept that responding to people with "I don't know" is a bad habit and will take some time to break. Don't be too tough on yourself if you find yourself still saying it from time to time.

2012 : Fiat planning for car sports roadster

2012 : Fiat planning for car sports roadster
Fiat is working hard on bring a sports coupe to the market by 2012. The sports car, dubbed Primo is being co-developed with Fiat’s sporty sibling, Abarth and will compete against the Mazda MX-5/Miata. While the sports car will be all-new, its size and transverse, mid-engined design will be similar to the Lotus Elise. The interior is also thought to use the same outline as the Elise; a fixed rear window with a simple, lift-out roof panel.
An internal source said speculation on the Internet is “wide of the mark”. It was suggest the forthcoming sports car will underpin the hugely expensive KTM X-Bow, which would contradict the fact the Fiat/Abarth sport car is predicted to start from under £25,000.Abarth will be design the car in-house, guided by CEO Head of design, Rubén Wainberg. Abarth is also developing its own tubular space frame for the car, which means Abarth can make good use of Fiat/Alfa modular suspension components and lightweight engines like the turbocharged 1.4 litre MultiAir, with around 170bhp. Fiat/Alfa is also launching its own 6 speed dual-clutch gearbox, although, a 7 speed dual-clutch is a possibility for the future.
The car is yet to be sign-off by CEO Sergio Marchionne, despite being at an advanced stage of engineering and design. One good point might be the size of the investment needed for a car that will demand global sales of no more than 5,000 units.
We expect the Fiat Primo is be launched first, with the racier Abarth variant arriving a year later.

USA - Opel Ampera announce PRICE (EU)

USA - Opel Ampera announce PRICE (EU)
Opel has released prices for the Ampera plug-in EV, which starts at €42,900 (£36,000/$51,000) when it goes on sale in Winter 2011. That’s considerably more than the Chevrolet Volt which starts from $41,000 in the U.S.
While that certainly sounds expensive, German prices start at €36,050, which indicates overall prices will be bespoke to each European country. Though, Vauxhall persist that it would "announce its own price" for the Ampera before the end of this year, a sign that British buyers could pay less, even before the UK Government's £5,000 eco-vehicle grant is taken into consideration. Like the Chevrolet Volt, Ampera features a 16-kWh lithium-ion battery and a 1.4T petrol engine which controls an electric motor that kicks out 150bhp (152PS) and 370Nm (273 lb-ft) of torque. On electric power alone, the car can travel 25 – 50 miles (40 - 80km). When the electricity is in short supply, the 1.4 litre turbo-charged petrol engine recharges it while at the same time, providing power to the electric motor.

    Press Release:
Opel Ampera - Revolutionary Electric Car Starts at 42,900 euros
•Environmentally Friendly: Family car drives 40 - 80 km electrically
•Freedom: Battery re-charges in three hours; endless e-driving possible
•No Anxiety: Range can be extended to more than 500 km when needed
•Spacious: Five-door car seats four and has ample trunk space
•Dynamic: Nearly silent torque feels like flying
    •Reservations now being taken
Rüsselsheim. Electric mobility begins now: Starting today, Opel will begin taking reservations for the 2011 Ampera, Europe's first electric vehicle that also features extended-range capability.
Electric mobility is the best solution for reducing automobile emissions and dependency on petroleum but if electric vehicles are to have a significant benefit on the environment and society, they must be attractive to a wide variety of buyers, not just city dwellers. Now this ambitious goal has become considerably easier to reach - with the revolutionary Ampera electric car.
The majority of drivers will find an electric car, such as the Ampera, remarkably easy to accept. That is because in addition to a powerful, 16 kWh lithium-ion battery, it has a unique electric propulsion system that extends its driving range. While providing all the benefits of state-of-the-art battery electric vehicles, such as zero tailpipe emissions and spirited performance, the innovative Ampera is not compromised by the typical disadvantages, such as limited range or long hours of immobility spent recharging a large battery.
That makes the five-door, four-seat Ampera the first electric car in Europe to give owners the freedom to drive wherever, whenever they want, with no worries of being stranded with a depleted battery. The manufacturer's suggested retail price throughout Europe for the base model starts at 42,900 euros, including national VAT. In Germany, with 19 percent VAT, the Ampera net price is 36,050 euros. Because trim levels will differ from market to market, prices in each country may differ. Customers wishing to reserve an Ampera can register at www.opel-ampera.com and become an ‘ePioneer', receiving exclusive news and a chance to test drive the electric car. In addition, they will be among the first to have the opportunity to own Europe's first practical, family electric car. Sales start in the fourth quarter of 2011.
Some competitors choose to split their offers for electric cars into two portions: a base price for the car and a leasing rate for the battery pack. This does make the price appear attractive because the battery leasing rate is not highlighted. However, battery leases are paid monthly for several years, so the total cost is roughly the same as a car whose total price includes both the car and the battery. Opel's pricing scheme eliminates confusion by listing the total cost of the car and battery. Opel is also researching customer preferences regarding financing and leasing schemes for the Ampera. The company will announce these options later.
"The Ampera defines a new class of e-mobility. No other electric vehicle provides the freedom of individual transportation as the Opel Ampera," said Alain Visser, Vice President of Sales, Marketing and Aftersales at Opel. "We have compromised on nothing. The Ampera is a beautiful car that is as fun to drive as it is packed with premium content."
Reliable battery not disturbed by inclement weather:
The Ampera is an electric vehicle that can operate in a wide range of weather climates. It is powered by electricity at all times and speeds. For the first 40 - 80 km, power is supplied by the electricity stored in the 16-kWh, lithium-ion battery. While driving on electricity delivered by the battery, the Ampera drives free of gas- and tailpipe-emissions.
Independent research found that about 80 percent of Europeans drive less than 60 kilometers per day, so the Ampera would meet their requirements. When the Ampera's battery runs low, the battery can be recharged in about three hours at 230v by plugging the vehicle's on-board charge system into a standard outlet. Because the battery can be re-charged quickly, most Amperas are likely to be driven in battery mode nearly all the time.
If a longer trip is required, the gasoline-fueled engine/generator can seamlessly extend the total driving range to more than 500 kilometers on a full tank. This range-extending technology means the Ampera is suitable for worry-free daily use by the whole family.
If electric vehicles are to have a significant benefit on the environment, they must be sold in high volume. Electric cars like the Ampera - with extended range capability - are the quickest way to reach this goal because they require few adjustments in lifestyle.
Beautiful design - clearly an Opel:
The Ampera carries the DNA of Opel's new design language - a prominent grille, bold Opel badge and daring boomerang headlamps. Every element of the Ampera was designed and analyzed for efficiency, making the Ampera one of the most aerodynamic and energy-efficient vehicles in the market.
Inside, the Ampera is packed with the premium content fitting for a ground-breaking vehicle. From Bose speakers to touch-screen monitors, this car brings mobility to the 21st century.
The Ampera already has won high accolades from specialists throughout the continent. Awards from authoritative magazines and websites include Greenest Car of the Year by www.whatcar.co.uk, innovation trophy from L'Automobile Magazine in France and best electric car by Auto Swiat in Poland.
