If less than 20,000 MS H1B applications were received on April 2, what will be the rules of the lottery? Will all those whose applications were received on April 2 be guaranteed a H1? In this case,will lottery apply for April 3 and April 4?

I would suggest not to go to COPS, if those folks are working any where else just call immigration authorities and report anonymously that they are working in USA illegally.

it goes deeper than that. first let me point out that this is philosophical- you argument is not about law, it's about a point of view.
so if i ask you why EB2 filers should spend extra years getting educated and never getting this all important magic "PD" and then get in line behind someone who got a job the day they entered the country- and got a PD soon enough- what would you say?
ask me. it took me 11 years to get a PD. why? for 7 of those years i was getting my advanced education. so why should i suffer behind the 3 year Indian degree person (against my 7 years there as well) who came in 5 years after me and filed right away?
there are reasons why the EB priorities were set up. by simply extending your logic EB1 should also wait for a turn and not have priority. what's good for the goose....
having said that, it is absolutely insane to ask people to wait indefinitely and we must do something about it.
today the EB3 folks (and I have nothing against them, their waits are insane- and it's absolutely not right) are porting to EB2 with those bachelors degrees and 5 years experience. and just because they could APPLY for a GC earlier and all their years get counted in the PD, they keep lining up ahead of me. why do all my years count for NOTHING?
please spare us "fortunate" EB2s a thought too. think of when in life our careers are finally freed from waiting for a GC.
and now please concentrate on ways to end retrogression and stop the EB2 vs EB3 crap. we all have our problems.

1. Let EB2 be wonder kids. All I am saying is their GC shouldn't be at the cost of EB3. Have a separate quota which is twice as much as EB3. But, when the left overs are up in the air, EB2 shouldn't grab everything.
2. Not all EB3 are with 3 years Indian degree. Most of them are 4 years and above. Please prove me wrong. There are several Master degree holders in EB3 queue just because of their employer decision (not even job requirements).
4. Most people filed under EB3 way back in 2001/2002 because they didn't antici pate such a mess 5-6 years down the road.
5. Today most applications are EB2? How? does it mean that the '3 years' Indian degree holders are not coming to US anymore? Nope. These days people just ', manage' to file under EB2.
6. Finally, EB2 would understand what we (EB3) are saying if the EB1 queue was retrogressed and EB2 was stuck in 2001.
There is no separate quota while applying for H1B but at the final stage of GC! Ridiculous!!
Bottom line, a VISA that could impact an individual's life so much should not be dragged for 7-8 years. And, thank you for your concern for EB3.

Dude, i dont even know who GCStatus is. If you want i can give my IP address. Dont spread false news here, saying that GCStatus and I are the same and we are sending message from Same Machine. Here is my IP Address 192.168.1.2 and I live in Pittsburgh. If you want, I can give you my I-485 receipt number for you to verify that Iam not GCStatus. If you want to talk to me, let me know, I will give my phone number. Now dont tell me, We are same person but different voice. lol... ( FYI.. that was a joke ).

Thanks for your suggestion. But the problem is its not that simple. Here is why. If the same individual create multiple IDs on IV and post using multiple IDs, one for posting derogatory comments and others that are not derogatory, we can keep mum to a point, but then it just gets too frustrating. Like in this case, madhuvj and GCStatus is the same person posting from the same machine but posting as if you are two different individuals. Hence my posts. Please stop this and email/pm us your phone number and we will start the transition process. We are sure you will do a better job than us.
You see, just like everyone else, we also have limited number of hours in a day. We can either spend our time looking at who is using multiple forum ids to post similar messages creating a false impression for other forum visitor, like the one projected in 'if i can be blunt' thread, or we can spend our time doing better things. Your actions are not helping anyone including yourself. Hope you understand.

Thanks a lot to the IV core. In my opinion, such impact by a minority grassroots organization is only possible in an country like the United States.

Thanks for opening this thread.I am sure there be plenty of struggling stories to inspire us fight till we reach our goals. I like the way you are giving small snippets of stories without compromising privacy of the person.
If we can get permission from the person to print these stories on IV website , that would be great read and inspire lot of members.
This person's company promoted him to IT Manager with huge hike and then he learnt from company attorney that he cannot change his role while his LPR is in process. He then got demoted to Sr.Software enginner from IT Manager and the hike was rolled back
This is truly the shocking reality of the life of legal immigrants. We need more and more such stories to pass on to our senators...please keep on sending these stories.....

Quick question... why is the faith in an organization so shaky, like a suspicious spouse? :)
The efforts that the core team puts into this, as also those of other active members of the community, and the recent events should provide a good grounding in IV's mission, intentions, and leadership.
You have all the rights to question, for sure, but I would PM one of the moderators/core team. If my concerns aren't suitably addressed, I would feel free to post on the forum.

On the contrary Air India is one of the best airlines now and I fly air India all the time .
You might not find young women in tight skirts as the cabin crew but the service of the middle aged Air-India crew is very good.
They have spanking new 777's with wide seats and latest entertainment systems. Tickets are real cheap and round trip to India can be as low as $650 to $700 with taxes per person . When flights are empty I can streach on 3 seats and sleep . JFK to Mumbai nonstop is only 13 hours , sometimes done in 12 also , which is what I spend sometimes when I travel from NYC to LA . On the contrary if you go through Europe it takes like 26 hours and immigration and all the hassle in London/Frankfurt and unecessary waste of time .Air India meals are Indian and not sphagetti and pasta like the western airlines( not to hurt the sentiments of the pasta , spagetti lovers ).
The staff is generous and many times I have been offerred multiple meals on the airline when they see that a person my size ( 6' 1) has to survive on a small morsel like that . :D. Drinks when asked are served generously.
The staff is very good and polite and last but not the least , it is my national airline .
Off course the airline has been affected because of some mismanagement and I consider the Indian government to be responsible for the same not the airline staff , cabin crew and pilots .

I have a question. I am a MS student who graduates late May and would not have my diploma till then. I asked my lawyer about the advanced quota and they told me that I would be needing the letter of completion from the school (which is not possible until I finish with this semester).
What are the odds of the Master's Cap still staying open in and around end of Apr and First week if May.
Anyone has the latest count. Please post it.

We all understand the EB immigration system currently as is needs to be fixed. We need to recognize this problem first. What I don't understand is most of the people I talk to about issues do not recognize the problem or are willing to accept it as is. They don't seem to be motivated in supporting IV from volunteering or providing financial support. If you look at this forum, take the amount of people who are registered and the amount of people who actually bring tangible value to this organization. What is in those few that we don't have? Let us all recognize that there is a problem first and lets think about ways to mobilize and spend energy in one direction set by IV.
