Even one year after July 07 bulletin, the State Department is saying that USCIS is not estimating accurately. Where is the question of estimates, they should look at ACTUAL data.
And where is IV management? Yes, people should work with their state chapters.....but now is the time for the core IV group to wake up and take up the fight with the higher ups in the goverment. Show them how the State Department + USCIS is treating immigrants because of their lethargy and laziness.

Hi,
I read a posts by you all on immigration voice which said U.S newspapers can easily publish a name change Ad for $70!! But I hear that they need some kind of a court order to do that...Can I ask you which paper did you advertize in India and in U.S. I have the same problem as many others -- I have only one name on my passport "Kritee" and U.S. embassy when they gave me visa made it FNU (as first name) Kritee (last name). Now I want to add a first name to my passport and all documents in U.S...and am wondering if I need to go to a U.S. court or not? All and any help will be appreciated!

Take it easy... This is just for humour, to have fun at these times.
No green card for you. Just work well for 6 years, enjoy life in US, enjoy sports cars by renting, not by buying, rent a big house, have a lawn and garden in back yard, grow your own vegetables. Have nice vacations like Hawaii, Jamaican islands, Vegas, Porto Rico etc.,Have fun in life. Do not go for green card. After 6 years, get nice job in India,own apartment near to office and ask your parents to live with you. Take kids to school . Have fun with them. Try to become director, AVP,VP,SVP,CEO,CTO and President. Do not go for green card. After you become director, buy a single family home and mercedez or BMW and have fun. Retire by the time your kids become earners. Grow vegetables in back yard. Do gardening and have fun. Thats how life should be. Do not hope for green card. H A V E F U N.
Completely agree with you here. Puts the quest for GC in perspective. Understand that everyone's situation is different, but is it really worth it to put your life on hold, that too based on the whims of USCIS?!? Just a thought. 10 years ago, the standard of living gap between India and US was so large, it made perfect sense. The gap isnt that huge any more. For some of us stuck in EB3, it could mean another 5-10 years wait. By then the gap would have closed some more. So looking back at that point in time will the sacrifices be worth it? Once again, there is no right or wrong answer, but just cant help wondering.

This is best at ppl things narrow minded , since you are EB2 you want to have this.. EB3 can port to EB2 then EB3 will never get spillovers.. and if you have latest PD you might get in to this issue... So prepare now for another admin fix. shouldnt we stop looking at bigger picture and start only on the smaller things like this ? Can you support with numbers how EB2 can get line cleared ? If that is true then there is no need of Recapture... becoz when EB2 goes current all numbers flow to EB3.
As gc_check explained, all EB2 with PD<2007/7 will get the green card 2 years earlier if this can be fixed. I do not understand why IV can not discuss it with USCIS.

Do whatever the F**K you want to stop us immigrants. You can't.
Nobody was able to stop your Grandpa from hopping aboard the Mayflower and landing in Ellis island and making a good life for himself. He had the might. He did it. So will we. However, I will do one thing more than that. I will teach my grand kids to respect people, no matter who they are and where they are from.
I am going to immigrate. I am going to work hard. I am going to prosper. I will bring good life to my family. I will bring value to this society and this country. I will start companies and provide my brother americans with jobs. I will help make America better.
You only make me stronger.
I could say here that people like you make our lives difficult. But that would be wrong. I have quite a few Second generation Italian friends here in florida and they are simply gems. They are among the reason I always wanted to come to this country. So you are alone in your ridicule/negative motivation. I have nothing against the staffing agencies whatsoever. I actually like the business model. The laws are generally being followed. There is nothing wrong with it. However, I do ask many of the companies why they only have indian or south asians. Especially if they have indians coming from Germany or Singapore, etc. Common answer I get is that other people have too much restriction. Expectation would be they would have their own corporate apartment, no bench time; selection of projects and no travel. As you know this is a little difficult to accomodate for these companies.
It generally is being clogged because it is getting around family base immigration. Although there is nothing wrong with that legally; it does hurt the people who cannot have the same accomodation. I know many, many people who have u.s. citizen brother; sponsors parents for greencards, rest of siblings come through staffing agency and then cousins get invited through h-1b and then spouse want to work and then another h-1b gets used. Eventully whole extended family base is here going through employment base when perhaps they should be going through family base. Other country people do not have such luxuries or companies looking to sponsor them specifically. Other country people generally went to school here and then went to h-1b and even then they have a difficult time getting it because they don't have the connection.
Because of all these workarounds; it is going to cause a lot of people to be here from just certain countries. I firmly believe that lawmakers, uscis know this pretty well (i've actually seen it in an i-140 denial where brother was ceo and sponsoring his brother for greencard) and this is why they don't want to lift country caps. They understand why the visas are being dominated. Pretty tough to get them to change this, if this is the way they feel.
Yes, I have heard of people using H1b visas to bring relatives etc.... which is not good, but a good system in place and strict enforcements will make sure someone is not misusing h1b visa. ie as long as employee is highly productive and gets good salary, it is fine, but if visa is beng used just as travel document, then it is an issue.

I see that the above discussion keeps on going on about EB-2 only. Doesn't anyone at IV care about EB-3 I also . I am sure there are a few EB-3 I people at IV who are suffering from retrogression , myself included.

I think the Indian Passport offices give new passports with surname and first/given names. Check with the embassy.

This thread starts with a call to all the EB2 people. Is it only the EB2 people suffering due to USCIS actions? Or are EB2 applicants a distinguised lot that they dont want EB3 to join with them?
It is so depressing to see the attitude of some of these guys !!! There have been so many threads explaining the difference(or indifference) between the qualifications of the applicants.
The suffering has been equally bad or even much worse for the EB3 applicants. I am an EB3 2003 applicant and my suffering has been equally painful. The campaign should be about fair treatment to every applicant, not alone EB2 or EB3.
Any campaign will only be successful when we try to do something together.
If you yourself are belittling the EB3 applicants, why do you have higher expectations from the American Citizens/Government.

According to a specialist on immigration forums "Mr UnitedNations" the unused visas are directly being used for EB3 ROW , I am not how he knows that but maybe thats what is happening.
Maybe EB3 ROW being a diverse group is being given more precendence than highly subscribed countries.

Have you tried contacting post-docs (usually EB1 or EB2 NIW, non-IT folks) at universities pursuing research who are affected by retrogression. I think you can find a lot of people on the IIT forums that float around the web. I am sure we can find really successful(well almost) with sorry stories and restrained in career advancement due to EB retrogression.
