Congratulations on first success. All will enjoy the real fruits. This is just start. Finish is to get the bill passed for more visa numbers, more transparency in DOS / USCIS.
Thanks we will not forget your efforts.

I didn' want to reply to your arrogant posts but you really got me fired up. Can't take any more of your BS. Why don't you come back and post on 19th with a due apology on how you underestimated our strength.

    Way to go, brother. :)

See you in DC. I like your reply. Sherman, where is the white flag?

Here is a snippet for you to digest:

"Immigration Voice To Organize A Peaceful Rally Of Legal, Skilled Foreign Professionals In Washington D.C. Immigration Voice (http://www.immigrationvoice.org (http://www.immigrationvoice.org/)), a grass-roots advocacy group of highly skilled legal immigrants is organizing a rally of skilled workers in Washington D.C. on Tuesday, September 18th, 2007 to draw the attention of US lawmakers and the American public toward the excessive delays and backlogs in the Employment Based Immigration system. Thousands of skilled, legal professionals, such as Doctors, Engineers, Scientists, MBAs and other professionals from all over the country are expected to participate in this unprecedented rally in the nation's capital. With this rally, they hope to impress upon the Congress the urgency and the necessity for reform in the Employment Based Immigration System."

I certainly expected a better articulated reply than a brilliant one-liner.

Anyways, not sure why you are so hung up on the person being illegal so she deserves what she got line. You may have to step back and look at what the larger trend here is. You and I can be the next target (see slippery slope article below).

Here are the underlying reasons for the outrage apart from the basic indecency of shackling a pregnant woman:

Wonk Room Sheriff Joe Arpaio Admits Clothing, Speech, And Conduct Help Determine If Someone Is Illegal (http://wonkroom.thinkprogress.org/2009/10/08/joe-arpaio-287g/)

    Immigration -- Arpaio's Abuse Of Power (http://pr.thinkprogress.org/2009/11/pr20091103)

Here is why it is a slippery slope>
New Study Finds Dramatic Problems with 287(g) Immigration Program | ACLU of North Carolina (http://acluofnc.org/?q=new-study-finds-dramatic-problems-287g-immigration-program)

In addition to moral blindness, your visual impairment also seems to extend to the physical realm preventing you from even reading the responses to your post.
And you need to do better than just posting links to ACLU and other left leaning websites if you want to forcibly argue your point. Somebody in this forum was pointing out how the majority here seem to favor illegal immigrants. Let me point out that Apraio was elected democratically in 1996, 2000, 2004 and 2008. Apparently voters in his county have a different point of view about illegal immigrants and have no problems voting him again repeatedly.

Story in brief: I came to the US in August 1999 on a F-1 visa to pursue my
Masters in Civil Engineering at XXX University. Prior to coming here, I had four years of experience in the civil engineering field. It is important to note that I came to the US with funding from XXX University in the form of partial tuition waiver and assistantship. My research was also funded by the XXX Department of Transportation. While I was completing my MS, my wife who also is a BE (Civil) from India, started to pursue her goal of obtaining a BS in Computer Science. I graduated in 2001 and started working in the office where I am currently employed. My wife graduated in 2003 with a BS with Distinction in Comp. Sci. We were full of hopes that with a distinction, getting a job in her field would be easy and that is where the bubble burst. Repeatedly she was told by many companies in the state of XXX that they do not hire international students or sponsor their work visas so she should "try" again when she recives her permanent residency! And this while we knew people these companies brought in on contract basis to do the work, people like my wife with no experience. Anyways, my wife is now so depressed and frustrated that I am worried about her health. Imagine having a BS in a top notch field but not getting a job because companies won't hire or sponsor internationals!!

In the meantime, I have been working on significant transportation related jobs (designing foundations, slopes and soil engineering for highways and interstates) for projects funded by the Federal Highway Administration and the Department of Transportation. In the last five years, the total construction cost of the highways in which I have been involved in easily exceeds USD 350 million dollars!! And the best part is that I am the only geotechnical engineer in the XXX state office. I believe that I have certainly paid the taxpayers of the state of XXX back the faith they had shown in me when the University (it is a public university) decided to fund my education by staying and working in the State of XXX and utilizing the education and experience gained to make lives better for the people of the state of XXX by being involved in designing safer, faster roads at the best possible cost.

Currently, my labor was filed under PERM in April 2006. I will be in the EB3
category, subject to retrogression and my wife will not be able to work for
another 7/8 years, by which time she will most likely have lost the
    competitive edge and enthusiasm.

In the words of the person who sent this to me

I moved to the US on a H1 visa, from India 7 years ago. I have a Bachelors in Engineering and a Management degree as well. I work in the areas of Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing. An area of expertise that helps corporations here in the US become competitive and stay competitive. Among other benefits, my work aids businesses in making informed operational, tactical and strategic decisions and gain competitive advantage.

With this retrogression, It is going be several years before USCIS will even get to my file to adjudicate. While I understand a green card is not my right, I think I have worked towards it for a long time now. I am in this country legally, paying taxes, contributing to this economy, spending my earnings in this country like any other law abiding American citizen.

I have legally asked this country and USCIS for Permanent Residency (PR). My request for PR is not based on the premise that my parents/relatives live here and are citizens in this country. I am not even asking for Permanent Residency because of the country I come from. I am asking for Permanent Residency based entirely on my educational qualifications, professional expertise and the demonstrated contributions I have made to businesses and the American way of Life.

I have also been accepted as an Instructor at a reputed University in California where I will be teaching in my area of expertise. This clearly helps the American society and Industry.

When I moved to the US, I believed America is all about meritocracy. Work hard, prove your worth and you get what you truly deserve. I feel six years is enough time to prove your worth to get a Permanent Residency.
My tax returns, my legal Status documents, my contributions to this economy etc will prove it. What is really disconcerting is the fact that, now I have to continue to wait for I don't know how many more years for USCIS to even look at my credentials, let alone give me an up or down decision. Mind you this wait is not because of any delays attributable to me.
    Is this fair ?

If you think you don't need me, at least tell me, in a reasonable period of time. Please do not make me wait indefinitely.

    Fred,
    Congratulations!!

Just ignore the accusations. Two things here. Firstly, people are really frustrated here with all the GC stuff. Secondly, there has been lot of Anti-immigrants coming in and trying to disrupt the forums, making people inherently suspicious.

Enjoy your Green Card. Remember to support us lesser mortals in future. :p

I got this email from one of the So. Cal IV Members after requesting for donations for local chapter activities. I thought this was interesting and should share with Everyone

    ************************************************** *

Great to see the so cal members contributing....(3 days)

    ($10*10members) / Total members(100) = 1 dollar/member (and would surely increase)

Whereas in IV website (2 week)

    $1185 / 25000 members = 4.7 cents/member

    Just a thought..... its TRUE......

from all your invalid and illogical posts, I fail to understand your real motive. Do you want us get divided and fight among ourselves? Hope not! With my limited understanding, what I realized in last 2 years is this: VISA RECAPTURE and RETROGRESSION aka discrimination based on country of birth are the biggest obstacles for those born in countries like India, china, Philippines and Mexico. (Do you want to say that it is okay to be descriminated for being born in one of those countries?) So it does make sense to address these 2 issues. If I have limited energy (read money & support for lobbying, campaign etc), I would spend it towards where it can benefit me most.

What I am saying is just do not look into the issues that affects only you. Just be open minded. Show some sympathy to them. They were really affected. You do not have to fight all battles. you called that person Jealous which I did not like. if You do not like just ignore the post but do not call the names.

What is invalid and illogical ? Explain

08/22/2008: Wild Forest Fire Sweeping Chinese and Indian Websites

The USCIS has been delaying release of the August 15, 2008 USCIS processing time reports and so-called certain government agency processing tracking sites have been reporting slow-down of the EB-2 I-485 applications for the Indians and Chinese. Triggered in part by these evidence, the Indian and Chinese EB-2 I-485 waiters are literally consuming their emotions through the Indian and Chinese websites. However, we are still in August and have yet to reach the September 2008 Visa Bulletin which was released by the State Department assumedly after consulting with the USCIS, and there is absolutely no evidence at this point that the FY 2008 EB-2 visa numbers have already been exhausted. People should calm down, keep patience, and wait for the agencies' announcements, if any.

Even the law firms know a :mad:diddly squat:mad: about the whole visa bulletin and 485 adjudication issues.

The guy says that ..."there is absolutely no evidence at this point that the FY 2008 EB-2 visa numbers have already been exhausted..."

So how does it address about availability of EB2 visa numbers for India/China for 2008? It may be true EB2s are available for 2008, but are they still available for India/China applicants for 2008? I bet even USCIS does not know...:D

To top it all, Gotcher guy says there are only handful visas available...If there are only handful available, how come more than a handful people got GCs over the past 3 weeks?

Man, when it comes to the guessing game of CIS/DOS comedy show, any one of us is as good as these lawyer fellas...

Oh man. I had to burst out laughing on your post imagining how that cop would endure if given such a punishment. But pity that lady how much ever crime she might have committed earlier. Still pregnancy and delivery is a re-birth for ladies.

There are times when you enforce law as a cop. But not all the times. Wish there was some humanity shown by this person. Acts like these are like a drop of ink in a glass of water. These bad cops taint the entire department.

Disgusting, Sheriff Joe is monster. Perhaps he came from family with no respect for women.

On the lighter note, if I were a judge, here's what I would do with Sheriff Joe if he was trailed:

    1. Perform sex change operation on Sheriff Joe and install a womb.
    2. Perform artificial insemination on Sheriff Joe using the seed of big man like Undertaker, Shaq or Khali (so that offspring is a big baby).
    3. On term, shackles Sheriff Joe and make him go through the pain of giving birth. In the process don't administer epidural or perform C-Section.
    4. Don't repair any damage done to his body parts after delivery.

I agree with WendyZhu. I don't think that the IOs would share such sensitive information. They very well know that this information could spur up huge debates on blogs like it already has. At the same time the IO could be tracked down and could lose his job because of this. There is certainly something fishy here.

Relax guys and gals , don't stress over these rumors. We already have sleepless nights because of the erratic processing by USCIS and these rumor-mills just increase our stress level.

Just think of this - what's the worse that could happen ? It's already happening - people with 2006 PDs and Aug '07 RDs are getting approvals while 2004 PDs and July 2 RDs are still waiting.
