Janet Jackson Successfully Launches "Number Ones" Tour

Last night, Janet Jackson launched her world tour "Number Ones: Up Close and Personal" in Manila. She opened up with “Pleasure Principle,” “Control,” “What Have You Done for Me Lately,” and “Feedback”. Later on she continued with “Let’s Wait Awhile” and “Again,” and closed the show with “Make Me”, and “Together Again.” The show is receiving great reviews, many saying that "Janet's still got it"! Janet has now arrived in Singapore where she will perform her second show.

Janet Jackson Announces 2011 World Tour

Janet Jackson has announced that she will be embarking on her largest tour ever by going around the world next year in 35 cities! There is one catch, Janet wants her fans to pick the 35 cities she will be performing in. Fans can vote and map out the schedule at JanetJackson.com.

Fans are also invited to submit questions about her recent turn in movies, book and music to @theboomboxblog on Twitter and The BoomBox on Facebook, of which fifteen will be chosen. The exclusive Q&A with Janet will be posted on November 30th.

In the past few months Janet released her hits collection album "Number Ones", starred in Tyler Perry movies "For Colored Girls" and "Why Did I Get Married Too?" for which she made the hit single "Nothing". She also wrote her first book "True You".

Janet Jackson Performs at the Essence Music Festival

Janet Jackson rocked it at the Essence Music Festival last Friday! Performing "What Have you Done for me Lately", "Feedback", and many more of her hits since the 80s! She sang "Together Again" as a tribute for her brother Michael Jackson.

It's the first time Janet performed since her last tour two years ago. It's as if she never went away, her choreography and singing was top-notch!

She recently admitted that she loved being back to acting as she featured in Tyler Perry's last movie "Why Did I Get Married Too" and is also featured in "When The Rainbow is not enuf", a movie also directed and produced by Tyler Perry. However she is thankful for everything she has in her life and loves to sing too.

Janet Jackson - "Rock Witchu" Goes To Japan

Janet Jackson's US tour wasn't a success to an illness related to virtigo, which forced her to cancel many shows. Some say that due to poor ticket sales, she decided to cancel a large amount of her concerts. Whatever the reason is, Janet is an amazing artist and she will surely produce something great again in the near future.

In the meantime, if everything goes according to schedule, Janet will perform four concerts in Japan between February 14th-22nd.

It will be the first time Janet will perform again in Japan in almost six years.

Janet Jackson - Not Ready To Be Sade

Janet Jackson and Def Jam parted ways, because she didn't want to be the new sade.

She says: "There were some people who didn't like the direction I took with this album (Discipline). They wanted me to sound more like Sade, but I'm not ready for that just yet. I love doing dance songs and I think my fans expect that of me."

She now wants to focus on her film career. Speaking to a magazine, Jackson said: "I have been getting more behind the scenes with film and television. I will probably continue to do music - and acting is still a strong passion of mine - but I really have been loving behind-the-scenes work: producing, directing and all the technical stuff."

Janet Jackson Cancels Connecticut Concert!

Janet Jackson has canceled a concert in Connecticut altogether, just weeks after postponing it because of illness.

She has now scrapped the Connecticut gig completely amidst reports of poor ticket sales.

A statement released by concert venue bosses at Mohegan Sun Arena reads: "Mohegan Sun regrets to announce that the concert featuring Janet Jackson has been officially canceled. There will not be a rescheduled date."

Fans have been advised to return to their point of sale to get a refund.

The Jackson 5 Announce 2009 Tour With Janet Jackson!

Jermaine Jackson has announced in an Australian show that the Jackson 5 will be touring in 2009. This includes Michael and Janet as the opening act. The Jackson 5 will also get back together to make a new album.

Jermaine says: “This has been a long time coming for the Jackson family to get back together,” Jermaine told the Australian Associated Press. “It is just the timing, so what we’ve been doing is working on the music and all the logistics. It is going to be more like a family affair..Janet’s going to open and, of course, the original Jackson 5 … Michael, Randy and the whole family. … We’re in the studio, we’re planning on being out there next year.”

LL Cool J Quits Janet Jackson's "Rock Witchu" Tour

In another setback on her "Rock Witchu" tour, Janet Jackson has lost her opening act: LL Cool J. The rapper's publicity firm announced Monday that he has dropped out as the headliner for Janet, because of unnamed scheduling conflicts.

It's the latest problem on Jackson's tour, her first North American outing in seven years. The 42-year-old singer was forced to cancel a string of earlier concerts because of a bout of migraine-associated vertigo. She recently resumed while being treated for the illness, which is characterized by dizziness, imbalance and other symptoms.

Janet Jackson has left a video blog on YouTube to thank her fans for supporting her while she was sick. She's all better now and is ready to tour again!

"I'm backstage in Houston. I'm getting ready to start the show and I just want to say hey to all Jermaine's 'Living the Life' YouTubers. I want to thank you for all your messages and all your love and support when I wasn't feeling very well," she says.

"Baby, they say you broke up with me because I threw up on you," Dupri laughs while saying. "How lame is that?" Jackson anwers. "Because you threw up on me ... Well, there's no real love there, is it?"

Janet Jackson - "Rock Witchu" Tour Returns

After cancelling concerts in Montreal, Boston, Philadelphia, and Greensboro, Janet Jackson is due to return to her "Rock Witchu Tour".

There are rumors going around that she might not have been sick at all:

“She might not be ill, from what people around her are saying. She might just be shocked by the small fan turnout. By canceling shows, she doesn’t have to face half-empty arenas.”

“Janet, who has been under her doctor’s care and recuperating over the last week, is excited about getting back on the road and again being able to share with her fans what she feels is one of her best stage shows ever,” Live Nation said in a statement.

Janet Jackson - Cancels Another Concert

Janet Jackson's health still remains uncertain, as she has canceled another concert, this time in Greensboro last Saturday. A local doctor told her that it was evident that she still needed to recover.

Her publicist isn't revealing anything about Janet's health, however it was reported that she might be suffering from vertigo. What does this mean for the "Rock Witchu" tour? Hopefully, Janet will recover soon for herself and her fans. It's her first year since seven years in North America.

Janet Jackson - Cancels Two Other Concerts

After being hospitalized for two hours and for unknown reasons in Montreal, Janet Jackson has decided to cancel her concerts in Boston (October 1) and Philadelphia (October 2). These will be rescheduled, according to a statement from the star’s rep. The tour will resume in Greensboro, NC, this Saturday, October 4.

Just as Janet Jackson was about to take the stage in Montreal, she was rushed to the hospital for unknown reasons.

A publicist for Gillett Entertainment Group says that the incident is reported at the last minute just before the show time. "We're not entirely sure (what happened)," Michal explains. "We don't have all the details. We just found out 20 minutes ago."

Tickets will be refunded at point of sale and a new date will be rescheduled. The "Rock Witchu" Tour is highly demanding as it includes a 38 song list, and lots of costume changes.

It isn't the first time that Janet had to cancel one of her "Rock Witchu" shows. Last Friday, she cancelled her Detroit show due to production constraints. Perhaps the stress of her split with Def Jam got to her...

Janet Jackson - Splits From Def Jam

Janet Jackson has severed ties with Island Records after just fourteen months with the label. The move was prompted by Janet’s frustration of lackluster sales for her most recent album.

“They just stopped all promotion whatsoever on the album,” she said in a previous interview.

Janet has since asked to be released and Island Def Jam has complied.

“At her request, the record label has agreed to dissolve their working relationship with the popular artist,” Jackson’s rep said in a statement. “Now, more than 20 years after the release of her iconic album, Control, Janet will have autonomy over her career, without the restrictions of a label system.”

According to Jackson’s publicist, she is looking forward to being one of the first superstar artists to have the individual freedom that comes along with being a free agent.

Janet Jackson kicked off her Rock Witchu Tour on Wednesday at the GM Place in Vancouver, B.C. featuring more than five costume changes and 30 chart-topping hits including “Rhythm Nation,” “Control,” and “Let’s Wait Awhile".
